Position Summary

The Application Technologist is primarily to setup, operate, or troubleshoot polymer process equipment using established processes to support product development, application development and technical service.

Essential Job Functions

• Reinforce TSRC values, business ethics & codes of conduct, and other principles of compliance.
• Strictly follow all procedures in a safe manner, without exception
• Setup/Operate/Troubleshoot production machinery such as thermoplastic Extruders, compounder, injection molding machine, blown film line, roll mill, hot press, etc. and other heavy machinery, such as forklift
• Propose and/or implement any modifications of the equipment to be more suitable to the polymer materials used.
• Document observations and process parameters accurately and completely
• Prepare test specimens with appropriate methods and equipment
• Keep lab procedures up to date, write new procedures as required.
• Set up and maintain mechanical integrity program on all equipment.
• Conduct lab tests on a wide range of samples using ASTM, ISO, or internal methods. Report data in an organized manner to the senior scientists and engineers, who request the tests.
• Keep the application workshop clean and organized daily.
• Be and active member of the team, willing to lead and train others
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management or supervisor.

Experience Requirement

• Ability to set goals & objectives and identify resources/processes necessary to accomplish them.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and directions
• Ability to read and understand safety procedures, including OSHA standards and regulations
• Good mechanical troubleshooting skills preferred
• Ability to recognize and safely respond to emergency situations
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
• Good communications skills; fluent in English including reading, writing and speaking; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
• Excellent computer skills, including ability to easily use MS Office suite and ability to easily learn advanced software.
• The employee must be reliable and dependable.

• Self-motivated and self-disciplined

Education Requirement

• High School diploma with 8 years of thermoplastic polymer process experience, or
• College graduate with 3 years of thermoplastic polymer process experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree of polymer engineering

Travel Requirement

• Willing to travel for training
• Occasionally travel to observe customers technologies
• Total travel up to 10%

This position requires an employee to work in a lab environment, with process machines. There will be minor exposure to various chemicals and compounds, some of them hazardous and/or flammable. Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location.
