LANXESS-TSRC (Nantong) Chemical Industrial Company Ltd. celebrates its newly completed Nitrile Rubber (“NBR”) plant.

[Taipei] TSRC Corporation (“TSRC”, 2013 TT) announced today that one of TSRC’s subsidiaries, LANXESS-TSRC (Nantong) Chemical Industrial Company Ltd., celebrates its newly completed Nitrile Rubber (“NBR”) plant. Lanxess-TSRC is a 50/50 joint venture between the German specialty chemicals group LANXESS, and TSRC. The state-of-the-art NBR plant has an initial capacity of 30,000 metric tons annually, production scheduled to commence during the first half year of 2012. The main applications for NBR are for the automotive and construction industries.

Built on an area of 40,000 square meters, this $50 million USD production facility is situated at the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone in the province of Jiangsu. The construction project provided jobs for 500 people during the construction phase, and 100 new local careers are necessary for the operation afterwards. Through the stronger supports from TSRC and LANXESS, the plant construction was completed on time, allowing the joint venture to serve their Chinese customers high quality NBR as scheduled, and as promised.

The President and CEO of TSRC, Wei-Hua Tu said, “The partnership is a win-win combination. It brings together TSRC’s long-history of engineering and production know-how in China with LANXESS’ marketing and technical expertise in synthetic rubber”.

Through the new production plant, Lanxess-TSRC will be able to satisfy part of the rapidly growing demand for NBR in China, which is currently growing at a double-digit rate. The automobile industries, including related parts, constitute the main driver for the NBR demand in China. The high resistance properties to oil, abrasion, ozone, aging, heat and its excellent physical-mechanical properties make NBR the material of choice for the manufacturing of seals, hoses for hydraulics and pneumatics, rubber gloves, elastic threads, as well as blankets for print cylinders and rolls. Similar applications are widely used for the construction industry as well.
